Pre- and post vaccination tips - Part 2 Liver

Since my last post, I have had many ask me whether the advice I am giving also pertains to the new mRNA vaccine? And my answer is yes! And here is why.

The Pfizer and Moderna Vaccines are “new” vaccines. “New” meaning it is the first time this science/medicine/technology is being allowed to be used on humans.

This science and knowledge has been around for over a decade, but it is only now being allowed to be actually used! So what exactly is it?

mRNA (molecular RNA) is a man-made vaccine that transfects synthetic molecules  into our immunity cells - to give instructions to our RNA to produce a spike protein that is found on the Coronavirus (remember all those colourful spikey balls that were floating around as images!)

This mRNA vaccine is basically pushing itself into our cells and “teaching” our RNA to produce this spike protein that is found on the coronavirus, which then sends a message to our immune system to fight it!

Fascinating science but at the same time a little frightening and slightly “space agey” as it has never been used before.

Quite honestly, NOBODY knows quite how our bodies will react, short term and more importantly, long term. So, it is for this exact reason that I am suggesting we use our logic and common sense when taking this new vaccine. 

When our bodies are being given instructions to do anything, we need to be aware of not stressing our whole system.  One of the body’s main reaction to anything it doesn’t recognise is to inflame itself or to fight to protect us. 

This is why it is vitally important that before and after receiving the vaccine,  we need to try to support our bodies and give it as little stress as possible. 

Therefore by eating well, sleeping well, reducing inflammatory foods, making sure our detoxifying path ways are open and giving our bodies less to deal with, in general, we are supporting our immune system and lessening the burden on our body.

Liver health here is crucial as our liver is our main detoxifier! And don’t forget in all these vaccines there are carriers that carry the information into our our cells, these also need to be detoxified from our system.

So what can we do for our Livers!! 

One of the easiest things to do to help support the liver to detoxify is to do a castor oil pack over the liver area. Do this a few days before and after your vaccination, whilst you are on your “mini detox”.

🍵Warm 1/2 cup of castor oil ( be careful not to let it get too hot!) dip a clean cotton cloth or face flannel into the oil. Place the soaked cloth over the liver area, then place a towel over the cloth then place a warm pack or hot water bottle over the towel. Leave it for 20 minutes. Then remove the cloths and any excessive oil. You must drink lots of water when doing this!!

Add the following Liver friendly foods into your diet as much as possible!

🌿Beetroots, lemongrass, Lemons, Limes, Garlic, Onions, spring onions, Turmeric, Olive Oil, Grapefruits, cabbage, cauliflower dark green cruciferous vegetables, grapes, pumpkin, flax and sunflower seeds or butters and WATER!!

🍋Here is my Liver Lover Juice Recipe!!

1/2 head red cabbage

1 Lime (peeled)

1 beetroot

1 grapefruit ( peeled)

1 green apple

2 carrots

170 gms Kale

A handful of mint

1 stalk lemongrass

1-2 cloves garlic

 Place all ingredients in a juicer

 

Avoid the following:

🌱Eating too much sugar (keep an eye out for hidden sources)

🌱Excessive consumption of alcohol

🌱Drinking too much caffeine

🌱Additives, preservatives and flavouring in foods.

🌱Consuming pesticides and herbicides and wax on fresh produce ( make sure you wash, soak or buy organic!)

🌱Taking too many common medicines such as Panadol, antihistamines,ibuprofen, antibiotics and hormones

🌱Excessive exposure to synthetic chemicals in household and beauty products!!

The following herbs are excellent for our Livers and should be consumed regularly in place of teas and coffee’s

🌱Dandelion Root Tea

🌱Turmeric and Black Pepper tea ( Turmeric Latte’s!)

🌱Milk Thistle

🌱Green tea

🌱Thyme Tea

🌱Lemongrass Tea
